UoP Racing Team goes electric!!! 01/02/2012 We are happy to announce some great news: We go "green"!!! We are going to built an all-electric vehicle, designed to be the highest performance UoP Racing Team's car so far - yet electric. Our target is to prove that electric FSAE cars can be very exciting too, considering the fact that they are now as fast, if not faster, than the petrol cars as the technology catches up. We believe that there is an ongoing green revolution, even in automobile racing, and we are glad to be a part of that effort. We have successfully registered for the Formula SAE Italy 2012 competition in class 1E and we are participating with UoP4e, a car designed with realistic targets, keeping in mind the difficulties an inexperienced team like ours could face building such a car. Due to the limited resources available, straightforward solutions were chosen for many parts of the vehicle. Some quick specs:
Busy months December & January
27/01/2012 The past two months were way too long for UoP Racing Team. A lot of hard work was done: A complete CAD design for almost every single part of the car is ready by now and only some minor changes are going to be made (if needed) until the final design of UoP4. Additionally, plenty of experiments about carbon fiber chassis' integrity and stiffness were made (the results taken where close to the estimated values, verifying our FEAnalysis models). Plus, many parts were purchased and we are now waiting for them to arrive to our workshop. During that period, many team members were in contact with some major companies in Europe and worldwide in order to gain their support for our project. That's the reason why we now have in our racing family brands like Sony Greece, RedBull Greece, 3DConnexion, Eurocarbon and more to be announced soon. We would like to thank them for all these great stuff they offered us and we hope to continue cooperating with all of them. Stay tuned with team's progress via our official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Sony Greece sponsors UoP Racing Team 23/01/2012 We are happy to announce our partnership with Sony Greece! Sony sponsors us with their top of the range VAIO series laptops. Every VAIO includes the most innovative technology available to give you the best possible computing experience. In FSAE, reliability is everything – VAIO notebooks are rigorously tested to make sure they work faultlessly in real-life environments. Visit the company website on www.sony.gr. Thank you Sony Greece!!! 3DConnexion sponsors UoPRacing! 22/12/2011 3DConnexion, a pioneer in CAD design interface, sponsors our team with their 3D mice. With a 3D mouse users can pan, zoom and rotate as if they’re holding the model in their hand, and leads to shortened product design cycles, a reduction in work-related fatigue and improvements in design quality. Thank you 3DConnexion!! Thank you SPA DESIGN ! Tiriakidis/B&T composites sponsors UoPRacing 20/12/2011 We are happy to announce our partnership with Tiriakidis/B&T composites! Tiriakidis/B&T Composites is a leading manufacturer of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) Composites, located in Greece, and will support us with high quality production of overbraid carbon fiber parts. Visit the website of the company: http://www.tiriakidis.com/ Eurocarbon continues supporting UoPRacing! 16/12/2011 Eurocarbon continues to sponsor our team with their high quality carbon fiber fabrics. Eurocarbon is a producer of tubular and flat braids, woven tapes and fabrics, primarily used in the composite industry since 1982. We already got delivery of a massive quantity for our new monocoque. Thank you Eurocarbon! RedBull Greece supports UoPRacing! 14/12/2011 There are some times in FSAE, where a little boost is all you need. RedBull not only gives it, it also gives us wings! We would like to welcome their support! Busy month October 16/11/2011 The return to the shop after the P.I.C.K. event was followed by a whole-car disassembly process. Every single part of the car was taken apart, cleaned out well and (the most important part of the process) weighed, in order to document everything and continue with the design of our new vehicle focusing on further reducing the weight where possible. The car was quickly re-assembled and ready for winter testing of 2012's parts. New Members Recruitment Day were also scheduled, including a car show event in campus, so as to attract new members from every faculty of the University of Patras. Everyone was impressed from the technical details of UoP3Evo and the know-how of the team. At the end, the event was a big success and the team will handle the 2012 build with more members than ever! The weekly team meetings continue and the final decisions for the 2012 concept are about to be taken. Stay connected with team's progress via our official Facebook and Twitter accounts. |
