He owns a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and an MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sussex-UK, a PhD in Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras-GREECE and is candidate for an MBA from the Hellenic Open University-GREECE. He worked among others, as a Research Engineer (2001-2007) and a Project Manager (2007 – ) in Laboratory of Manufacturing Systems and Automation at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the University of Patras. Since 2011 he is the WCP and Production Coordinator at the Crown Holdings Inc., Bevcan – Europe and Middle East Division, Patras Plant, managing the operation and maintenance of 2 Aluminium Beverage can production lines, while developing and supervising industrial and continuous improvement projects through World Class Performance – 6σ philosophy. His main research interests are focused in the field of conventional/non-conventional/micro manufacturing processes, machine tool design, CAD/CAM and RP/RM systems. He speaks fluently English and German. He is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers-IMEchE (http://www.imeche.org/) since 2000, registered as a Chartered Engineer (Reg. N.: 594894) in the Engineering Council (http://www.engc.org.uk/), member of the Virtual Research Laboratory for a Knowledge Community in Production – VRL-KciP since 2004 and a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and of the Technical Chamber of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. He is member of the editorial board for one (1) International Journal and reviewer for five (5) International Journals and a number of International Conferences. He has acted as a member of the organising and programme committees of four (4) International Conferences. Since 2002 he has been involved in fourteen (14) RTD projects funded by the EC, acting as a Research Engineer, Project and Technical Manager contributing to the research and technological advancement of the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation. Indicative funded projects that have been carried out include: VR-SHIPS, MASMICRO, LASER-SAM, CUSTOM FIT and FoFDATION. He has supervised fifteen (15) Student and Diploma Thesis in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of the University of Patras, many of which were conducted in cooperation with industries and in topics relevant to the manufacturing processes. He has more than 80 publications (fourteen (14) publications in international refereed scientific journals, eight (8) publications in Greek refereed scientific journals, five (5) chapters in books, fifty-four (54) publications in conference proceedings with review in the full paper. His scientific work has been acknowledged by the international scientific community as the total number of unique citations of his research publications is 289 (based on Scopus, ISI Web of Knowledge and Google Scholar citation indices). |
